We support and strive to uphold Ojibwa's mission and vision each day within our classrooms. We're here to help each and every student reach their highest potential.
Mission Statement:
The Ojibwa staff, in cooperation with the community, parents, and students, motivates and inspires all students to reach their highest potential through a dynamic, comprehensive curriculum provided in a nurturing environment.
Vision Statement:
We strive to provide students with the tools that will prepare them for a productive future as responsible, contributing citizens who are committed to excellence.
Belief Statements:
We believe learning should be a continuous, life-long experience.
We believe Ojibwa provides students with a well-rounded curriculum promoting academic, social and emotional growth.
We believe all children need to be challenged and motivated.

WRITING GOAL
Our goal for students at Ojibwa:
All students at Ojibwa Elementary will show improvement in effective written communication across the curriculum.
Activities we are using to reach our goal:
MATH GOAL
Our goal for students at Ojibwa:
All students at Ojibwa Elementary will show improvement in math achievement scores.

READING GOAL
Our goal for students at Ojibwa:
All students at Ojibwa Elementary School will be proficient readers.

All students at Ojibwa Elementary will show improvement in effective written communication across the curriculum.
Activities we are using to reach our goal:
- Teachers will administer common writing assessments three times a year at each grade level to monitor student improvement in writing. (For example, all 5th grade students will write about determination 3 times a year)
- Teachers will utilize various writing programs to aid students in organizing and using quality details in their writing. (Being a Writer, Thinking Maps)
- Teachers will incorporate a daily oral language program into their writing curriculum. (Word a Day or daily paragraph editing)
MATH GOAL
Our goal for students at Ojibwa:
All students at Ojibwa Elementary will show improvement in math achievement scores.
Activities we are using to reach our goal:
- Teachers in the appropriate grades will use the Math Fou Program to help students increase memorization and retrieval rates of basic math facts.
- Students will use Math Fact Circles to practice and self correct basic math fact memorization.
- Students will use math fact websites to increase memorization and retrieval rates.
- Teachers who have been trained to use best practices in teaching Numbers and Operations will share information and strategies with other staff members.
- All teachers will be trained in the philosophies supporting manipulative use in the classroom.
- All teachers will share effective technology strategies used within their classrooms.
READING GOAL
Our goal for students at Ojibwa:
All students at Ojibwa Elementary School will be proficient readers.
Activities we are using to reach our goal:
- All staff will utilize a packet of Thinking Maps, story maps, graphic organizers and other resources to teach vocabulary, story elements, main idea, character analysis, sequencing of events, cause and effect, making connections, compare/contrast and point of view. Through these learning practices, students will be challenged to use higher-order thinking skills.
- Collaborative Meetings/staff meetings will focus on strategies and sharing of Technology usage in the classroom.
- Staff will be trained in using various retelling strategies.
- Staff will integrate technology into reading by using the programs Read Naturally, Lexia, Kidspiration and Inspiration.
